The Ichiro Hattori Memorial Room at the Sunritz Hattori Museum of Arts has presented the modern and contemporary paintings collected by Ichiro Hattori (1932-1987) since the museum opened in 1995. In recent years, we have wanted to help visitors become more familiar with the work, attention has been paid to the elements within the paintings, with 'Perceiving Colours' in 2019 and 'Discover the Shape' in 2021. Now, this exhibition features art materials for painting.
Painting is a two-dimensional art, expressed in colour and line, which uses art materials for its production. There is a wide variety of drawing materials for painting, such as pencils, crayons, watercolours and oil paints, as well as supports such as paper, board and canvas, which form the basis of the painting. And new art materials are still being developed today.
What impression does the work give us, depending on the characteristics of the art materials used? Enjoy viewing the works while paying attention to the different tastes depending on the artist who painted them.
